<span style="font-family: Georgia;">This is a popular technique used in many illustrating software.. so I thought to add to my blog too</span><br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TGOLp9XiGxI/AAAAAAAAAPk/vdgqvGkFY3w/s1600-h/d1%5B4%5D.png"><img alt="d1" border="0" height="47" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TGOLrzfVheI/AAAAAAAAAPo/ko7vXWqU3Oo/d1_thumb%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d1" width="320" /></a> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Start by typing some text using the text tool.. select the text and <em>Path > Object to Path</em> command</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Now ungroup the path and select all text and use <em>Path > Combine</em> command. Now duplicate the path and apply a different color to it. Use Path > Dynamic Offset and drag the handler upward to scale the duplicated path</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Send duplicated path backward and create another duplicate of it. Apply a darker color and increase the blur amount – now it will look like a shadow</span><br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TGOLsgv66MI/AAAAAAAAAPs/pPLb5XmXH8M/s1600-h/d2%5B3%5D.png"><img alt="d2" border="0" height="52" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TGOLtnRTvKI/AAAAAAAAAPw/3UIlgBWwrHo/d2_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d2" width="218" /></a> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">If you encounter something like in the above image, use the path editing tool to select all inner nodes and delete them – this will remove all holes inside the shape</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Select the text on the top and apply <em>Filter > Shadows and Glows > Inner Glow</em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Select the shape beneath the text and apply <em>Filter > Bevels > Neon</em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Finally I’ve added a background to the text using the rectangle tool. Can you figure out how I did the gradient fill?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Hope you enjoy this tutorial and tell me what you think</span><br />
<br />

<span style="color: #c84b22; font-family: Georgia;">Difficulty Level: Easy<br />
Time to Complete: 20 mts</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Again using very basic skills of Inkscape you can create this logo in quick time</span><br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TF-8Rzdji_I/AAAAAAAAAPA/V7auJZgF610/s1600-h/d1%5B3%5D.png"><img alt="d1" border="0" height="69" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TF-8THaO6qI/AAAAAAAAAPE/Vzp1OhSuKtE/d1_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d1" width="240" /></a> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Start by drawing a polygon of any size using the polygon/star tool</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Duplicate it and scale down the duplicated shape. Rotate a bit. Now apply gradient fills to both shapes separately – colors I’ve used : ffd42a, fce79c, and pure white</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Duplicate the large polygon twice and send them behind – apply 2 darker colors: d4aa00 and black. Drag both duplicated polygons to the left a bit</span><br />
<br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TF-8U8xoD8I/AAAAAAAAAPI/za-JshsPOcQ/s1600-h/d2%5B3%5D.png"><img alt="d2" border="0" height="88" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TF-8VwlOEQI/AAAAAAAAAPM/RfsaWH17_Vg/d2_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d2" width="240" /></a> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Now to get the cut-out effect draw a star shape over a rectangle shape. Select both shapes and <em>Path > Difference</em>. Now flip the shape vertically and align it with the small polygon at the top. Select both the shapes and Path > Division to divide the small polygon into pieces</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Now drag away the pieces little bit to see the large polygon underneath </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Do the same with the bottom part of the large polygon</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">To view some part of the darker polygon at the bottom, you can drag inside the left most node of the large polygon at the top</span><br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TF-8XVSreYI/AAAAAAAAAPQ/8D1QA-hyFj4/s1600-h/d3%5B4%5D.png"><img alt="d3" border="0" height="102" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TF-8YQPjumI/AAAAAAAAAPU/Ro1RWeluNJo/d3_thumb%5B2%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d3" width="116" /></a> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">The screencast will explain this procedure well</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Now to complete the logo add some text using the text tool</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Hope you enjoy this tutorial and tell me what you think about this technique </span>nuraphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06657208971996795890noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2989225315949083434.post-2038309354637310192010-08-06T03:18:00.001-07:002010-08-08T21:50:10.608-07:00Green World Logo<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TFvhMk66wJI/AAAAAAAAAOY/3tH40jeX9LQ/s1600-h/greenlogo1.png"><img alt="greenlogo" border="0" height="133" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TFvhPh76KkI/AAAAAAAAAOc/_OSdKH-YMOw/greenlogo_thumb.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline;" title="greenlogo" width="167" /></a><br />
<span style="color: #029126; font-family: Georgia;">Difficulty level: Easy<br />
Time to Complete: 20 mts</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">This logo was created in quick time and this is my favourite so far..</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Lets start creating this by drawing the top circle</span><br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TFvhRXH9YjI/AAAAAAAAAOg/xWZncKH5_j8/s1600-h/d14.png"><img alt="d1" border="0" height="81" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TFvhXinihhI/AAAAAAAAAOk/qdcZgJRJ-hM/d1_thumb2.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline;" title="d1" width="162" /></a> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Using the oval tool create a circle, use <em>Path > Object to path</em> to convert it to a path. Drag the top most node upward and adjust the node handles to get the water drop shape – hint convert the top most node to a corner node</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TFvha62RfrI/AAAAAAAAAOo/OYknr8PZkGk/s1600-h/d23.png"><img alt="d2" border="0" height="72" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TFvhct7g8KI/AAAAAAAAAOs/1-D_Fi1EPhE/d2_thumb1.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline;" title="d2" width="240" /></a> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Wrap the water drop with an oval and apply gradient fills (I’ve used 89a02cff, f6ffd5ff, ffffff)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Create 2 overlapping oval shapes, select both and apply <em>Path > Difference</em> to get the shades</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Now for the second shape, use oval tool to create the leave shape and (select all 3 shapes and apply Path > Union) duplicate it 3 times</span><br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TFvhfQQW5qI/AAAAAAAAAOw/nNfQiDGF2vA/s1600-h/d33.png"><img alt="d3" border="0" height="66" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TFvhiKQHGAI/AAAAAAAAAO0/5R6mrYxrEIk/d3_thumb1.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline;" title="d3" width="240" /></a> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Apply gradients to all shapes and I’ve added transparency to all objects to give it a nice look</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Finally added text and that’s all for this tutorial.. hope you’ll like this too</span>nuraphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06657208971996795890noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2989225315949083434.post-33059668278044185542010-08-05T23:54:00.001-07:002010-08-06T02:55:22.166-07:00Letter Effects Logo<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TFuxbgI6nWI/AAAAAAAAAN4/HigFFjvVLaI/s1600-h/logo5.png"><img alt="logo" border="0" height="100" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TFuxdBx9ZZI/AAAAAAAAAN8/W92CzdjmE_I/logo_thumb2.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline;" title="logo" width="90" /></a> <br />
<em><span style="color: #04bb52; font-family: Georgia;">Difficulty Level: Easy<br />
Time to Complete: 20 mts</span></em><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Using only the basic skills of Inkscape, you can create the above logo in quick time</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Create a new document and get the text tool to type letter R. Using <em>Text > Text and Font</em> command edit its parameters to make it large enough to see (I’ve used size 72)</span><br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TFuxd43788I/AAAAAAAAAOA/fWV4P_H8ivU/s1600-h/d13.png"><img alt="d1" border="0" height="69" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TFuxgExlUtI/AAAAAAAAAOE/7mCeUXG-8U4/d1_thumb1.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline;" title="d1" width="240" /></a> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Convert the letter to a path using <em>Path> Object to Path. </em>Then ungroup the shape</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Get the spiral tool (options I’ve used: turns-4, divergence-5) and make a spiral. Using the <em>Fill and Stroke</em> dialog increase the stroke width (I’ve used 6). Select the spiral and command <em>Path > Stroke to Path</em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Align the spiral with letter and select both, command <em>Path > Exclusion</em> to get the effect. Edit the shape using the path editing tool as needed</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Now for the wrapping part of the letter use the oval tool to draw a shape and duplicate it. Select both ovals and use <em>Path > Division</em> to divide in to 2 parts</span><br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TFuxiERWJEI/AAAAAAAAAOI/W9Kjc-_lpfE/s1600-h/d23.png"><img alt="d2" border="0" height="63" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TFuxjk7q5-I/AAAAAAAAAOM/2Cb-XmtkI20/d2_thumb1.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline;" title="d2" width="240" /></a> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Move the top part slightly downward and apply gradient fills for both shapes. Increase the transparency in both shapes and place the letter in-between the 2 shapes.. and you are done</span><br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TFuxkvne93I/AAAAAAAAAOQ/kXerCelwK8k/s1600-h/d34.png"><img alt="d3" border="0" height="99" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TFuxnjbcMPI/AAAAAAAAAOU/EVMNQlVgQJM/d3_thumb2.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; border-right-width: 0px; border-top-width: 0px; display: inline;" title="d3" width="127" /></a> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Hope you enjoy this tutorial.. tell us what you think</span>nuraphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06657208971996795890noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2989225315949083434.post-59357728881735417362010-07-27T23:34:00.001-07:002010-08-06T02:54:57.146-07:00Get a new look with Materials<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TE_PTXaxSfI/AAAAAAAAANQ/-cOu6Uk_zng/s1600-h/d1%5B3%5D.png"><img alt="d1" border="0" height="204" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TE_PUyhgV_I/AAAAAAAAANU/j27fQFKvR2w/d1_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d1" width="199" /></a> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Ever wondered how to apply a custom made material to a shape? </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">The following image I created using Photoshop (using brushes) and imported to Inkscape</span><br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TE_PV_TXwPI/AAAAAAAAANY/kvsYUAzylYo/s1600-h/skin%5B9%5D.jpg"><span style="color: #151515; font-family: Georgia;"><img alt="skin" border="0" height="95" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TE_PWpUxSYI/AAAAAAAAANc/tjnw4FwtKe4/skin_thumb%5B7%5D.jpg?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="skin" width="95" /></span></a><span style="font-family: Georgia;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Then applied the command <em>Object > Pattern > Objects to Pattern</em></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Now you can use this pattern to fill objects just like any other pattern in <em>Fill & Stroke</em> dialog</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">But to customize the area of fill, I’ve used the following technique..</span><br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TE_PXvP2XNI/AAAAAAAAANg/7sLGQ5x2Ycg/s1600-h/d2%5B3%5D.png"><span style="color: #151515; font-family: Georgia;"><img alt="d2" border="0" height="82" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TE_PZowznrI/AAAAAAAAANk/3mi-NmILiOc/d2_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d2" width="240" /></span></a><span style="font-family: Georgia;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">After drawing the desired shape, I’ve aligned the shape with the pattern and command <em>Path > Division – </em>you can increase the transparency of the shape to view underneath</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Hope you’ll find this technique helpful and would love to hear your comments!</span>nuraphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06657208971996795890noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2989225315949083434.post-16718811755827265002010-07-22T23:09:00.001-07:002010-08-06T02:54:14.984-07:00Lion hair made easily<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TEkx0MnzIdI/AAAAAAAAAM4/1zt7Ar-ZEqU/s1600-h/lion2%5B3%5D.png"><img alt="lion2" border="0" height="240" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TEkx3KhX6zI/AAAAAAAAAM8/ie8vg-HP8AY/lion2_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="lion2" width="171" /></a> <br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia;"></span> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">The lion was created using the same techniques we discussed earlier in this series..</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">The thing I want to highlight here is the technique I’ve used to make the hair</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;"></span> <br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TEkx6e2zNvI/AAAAAAAAANA/HNVPqlNdDr4/s1600-h/d2%5B8%5D.png"><span style="color: #151515; font-family: Georgia;"><img alt="d2" border="0" height="79" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TEkx8wUZqaI/AAAAAAAAANE/ugJ4Mg5JB8w/d2_thumb%5B6%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d2" width="240" /></span></a><span style="font-family: Georgia;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">As described in the image make a head (oval tool) and a piece of hair using the pen tool (adjusted the curves little bit)</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">The piece of hair should be relatively small! Select both shapes and <em>Extensions > Generate from Path> Pattern along Path</em> command (I’ve used snake for the deformation type)</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">See how the results change with the alignment of the shape</span> <br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TEkyCFg3fTI/AAAAAAAAANI/qWU-1UuHLyA/s1600-h/d1%5B3%5D.png"><span style="color: #151515; font-family: Georgia;"><img alt="d1" border="0" height="240" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TEkyFUNDR8I/AAAAAAAAANM/pnNjzMwhT74/d1_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d1" width="132" /></span></a><span style="font-family: Georgia;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">To make it look like more real I’ve used <em>Extensions > Modify Path > Jitter nodes</em> command<br />
Here you can experiment with different values to see how you can make it a real hair</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Let me know what you think about it..</span>nuraphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06657208971996795890noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2989225315949083434.post-32889666257939654452010-07-19T03:17:00.001-07:002010-08-06T02:53:53.128-07:00Bunny Card with Text<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TEQmKZ98CdI/AAAAAAAAAMo/Y8EG09RhogY/s1600-h/card1%5B3%5D.png"><img alt="card1" border="0" height="240" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TEQmNH1XjvI/AAAAAAAAAMs/DjCy1mscPpQ/card1_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="card1" width="172" /></a> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Here I’m not going to explain in detail how I made that drawing.. what I’m going to explain is how to get those text along paths</span><br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TEQmPXKlNhI/AAAAAAAAAMw/_ee_qPuKkxE/s1600-h/d1%5B3%5D.png"><img alt="d1" border="0" height="153" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TEQmTBcWrMI/AAAAAAAAAM0/Jaw8KpHG_-0/d1_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d1" width="240" /></a> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">As described in the image first type the text using the text tool and then draw any path or a shape<br />
Select both and apply <em>Text > Put on Path</em> command</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Select the path and remove its stroke color if it is no longer needed! (Use the fill and stroke dialog)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Any changes you make to the path the text should adjust accordingly</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">In my drawing, I’ve used a circle shape to align the text <em>inkscapefans.blogspot.com.. </em>To get the text read from left to right I had to flip the circle horizontally – try it!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;"></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Bunny face was all done using the oval tool as usual</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Hope you’ll enjoy this and send us what you have created using this technique</span>nuraphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06657208971996795890noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2989225315949083434.post-44029572759172326092010-07-16T01:08:00.001-07:002010-08-10T02:42:54.617-07:00A Cow<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TEATZRoE4sI/AAAAAAAAAMQ/OlLB6vvIiAY/s1600-h/cow%5B3%5D.png"><img style="border-right-width: 0px; display: inline; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px" title="cow" border="0" alt="cow" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TEATajpZAPI/AAAAAAAAAMU/wnomsp2RE_8/cow_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" width="240" height="198"></a> <br><br><span style="font-family: georgia">There is no difference.. you can make that cow using the same techniques we used earlier</span><br><span style="font-family: georgia">But the thing I wanted to highlight here is the spots on the cow’s body. <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Difficulty: Easy<br />
Time to complete: 10 minutes<br />
Key elements: Shapes, Path Editing</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">This is a very basic tutorial and we are going to draw a cute puppy in quick time…</span><br />
<strong><span style="font-family: Georgia;">Head</span></strong><br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TDb-vgop2gI/AAAAAAAAAL4/ros6n4LFsNI/s1600-h/d1%5B3%5D.png"><span style="color: #151515; font-family: Georgia;"><img alt="d1" border="0" height="69" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TDb-zhUw1-I/AAAAAAAAAL8/1VfBv28HEyM/d1_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d1" width="240" /></span></a><span style="font-family: Georgia;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Start by drawing 2 oval shapes one bellow the other as in the image</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Use the pencil tool to draw 2, 3 lines for the eyes (increase the smoothing if necessary)</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Add a big nose using the oval tool</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">For the ears draw a tall oval and convert it to a path.. then drag away the top most node to the left or right!</span><br />
<br />
<strong><span style="font-family: Georgia;">Body</span></strong><br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TDb-2LwPa3I/AAAAAAAAAMA/SsE46lSzkOY/s1600-h/d2%5B9%5D.png"><span style="color: #151515; font-family: Georgia;"><img alt="d2" border="0" height="59" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TDb-5dioGKI/AAAAAAAAAME/KnpL17aYFlM/d2_thumb%5B7%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d2" width="240" /></span></a><span style="font-family: Georgia;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">For legs draw 2 ovals as in the image and select both and Path > Union</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Duplicate the leg 4 times and add around an oval – the body</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Select top most shapes and Path > Union</span><br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">And here is the final drawing.. I’ve added some spots using the oval tool (why I always use the oval tool?)</span><br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TDb-6pCxMUI/AAAAAAAAAMI/IVdj5MaUz8M/s1600-h/d3%5B3%5D.png"><span style="color: #151515; font-family: Georgia;"><img alt="d3" border="0" height="162" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TDb-8ex4fDI/AAAAAAAAAMM/WEH2X6SavTQ/d3_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d3" width="164" /></span></a><span style="font-family: Georgia;"> </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Difficulty: Easy<br />
Time to complete: 25 minutes<br />
Key elements: Shapes, Path Editing</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">In this tutorial we’ll draw a simple bear in quick steps..</span><br />
<strong><span style="font-family: Georgia;">Head</span></strong><br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TDWZe9fc5oI/AAAAAAAAALY/J_NU56Oyirs/s1600-h/d1%5B3%5D.png"><span style="color: #151515; font-family: Georgia;"><img alt="d1" border="0" height="61" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TDWZnwKh8tI/AAAAAAAAALc/llQmDmk9SU8/d1_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d1" width="240" /></span></a><span style="font-family: Georgia;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Start-off by drawing 2 ovals one at the top and another at the bottom, overlapping each other. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Make 2 more overlapping ovals and Path > Union – to make the face area</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Add 2 big eyes using the oval tool</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Add a nose, mouth and ears – I’ve used only the oval tool for all shapes</span><br />
<br />
<strong><span style="font-family: Georgia;">Body</span></strong><br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TDWZsqC7chI/AAAAAAAAALg/2RYzxFAU1sc/s1600-h/d2%5B8%5D.png"><span style="color: #151515; font-family: Georgia;"><img alt="d2" border="0" height="66" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TDWZ6C2mPwI/AAAAAAAAALk/k0uI-Ml4qv8/d2_thumb%5B6%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d2" width="240" /></span></a><span style="font-family: Georgia;"> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">For the body, I’ve used the oval tool to draw the basic shape and converted it to a path and edited using the node editing tool. Hands and legs are all ovals of different sizes. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Here is the final drawing..</span><br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TDWaKLIR7-I/AAAAAAAAALo/TSX-5it24sA/s1600-h/d3%5B3%5D.png"><span style="color: #151515; font-family: Georgia;"><img alt="d3" border="0" height="240" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TDWaYVwUkZI/AAAAAAAAALs/tIhcoxXwiSQ/d3_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d3" width="176" /></span></a><span style="font-family: Georgia;"> </span><br />

<br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Difficulty: Easy<br />
Time to complete: 15 minutes<br />
Key elements: Shapes, Path Editing</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">In this tutorial we going to draw a cute looking penguin using only basic shape tools in Inkscape</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;"></span> <br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia;">Face</span></b> <br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCxX9WI-dAI/AAAAAAAAAKg/J9hZXcQZZgo/s1600-h/d1%5B3%5D.png"><img alt="d1" border="0" height="52" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCxX_9wmWAI/AAAAAAAAAKk/MjEejfZAYQQ/d1_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d1" width="240" /></a> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Start off by making 3 ovals one large and 2 small for the face</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Duplicate the small 2 ovals and drag it away..</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Now select earlier 3 ovals and Path > Union</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Place the duplicated 2 ovals inside the face – scale it down if needed and select Path > Union again for the small 2 ovals</span> <br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCxYCBFdE4I/AAAAAAAAAKo/SRmo_diGc4o/s1600-h/d2%5B3%5D.png"><img alt="d2" border="0" height="78" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCxYD7zp1AI/AAAAAAAAAKs/q93vT9L50vM/d2_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d2" width="240" /></a> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">For the beak draw a small oval shape and convert it to a path</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Delete the topmost node and drag down that top curve a bit with the 2 side nodes</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Duplicate the shape and scale it down a bit. Position it behind the original shape using the page down key</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Add 2 big eyes using the oval tool</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;"></span> <br />
<b><span style="font-family: Georgia;">Body</span></b> <br />
<strong><span style="font-family: Georgia;"><a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCxYG_-Mt0I/AAAAAAAAAKw/HQbW8MM6b2U/s1600-h/d3%5B3%5D.png"><img alt="d3" border="0" height="74" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCxYJCgUgoI/AAAAAAAAAK0/gaRC_YtPjHw/d3_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d3" width="240" /></a> </span></strong><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">For the body start by making a big oval and duplicate and scale it down a bit</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Add 2 big legs using the oval tool</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">I’ve added a thumbs-up hand by drawing an oval and editing its nodes</span> <br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia;">In this short tutorial we are going to create a body for the cute bunny face we did in the earlier step</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">So import the cute bunny face from the previous work by File > Import</span> <br />
<a href="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCriMVHSf1I/AAAAAAAAAJ4/nkPNE_M1TQw/s1600-h/d6%5B3%5D.png"><img alt="d6" border="0" height="94" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCriSBTNHYI/AAAAAAAAAJ8/vkRo_20w3Rk/d6_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d6" width="240" /></a> <br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Add a big tummy and 2 hands by simply drawing and grouping ovals </span><br />

<span style="font-family: Georgia;">For the legs, start off by drawing an oval, bend the oval using the node editing tool and duplicate, duplicate </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Georgia;">Here is the final drawing - you could be more creative than this and send us what you have drawn </span><br />

Difficulty: Easy<br />
Time to complete: 15 minutes<br />
Key elements: Shapes, Path Editing <br />
In this tutorial we are going to draw a simple Chick using very basic methods of Inkscape .. shapes and paths <br />
You can be more creative and try the other versions of the same drawing as shown at the end <br />
<strong></strong> <br />
<strong>Drawing the basic shape</strong> <br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCnFUZMBCrI/AAAAAAAAAIY/PVj75Syv6aM/s1600-h/d1%5B3%5D.png"><img alt="d1" border="0" height="71" src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCnFYZ-NEpI/AAAAAAAAAIc/Dq5vStkeONM/d1_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d1" width="240" /></a> <br />
As usual start by making an oval shape <br />
Using the path editing tool convert the shape to a path and arrange the nodes to get the basic body shape – I’ve added a node at the north-east position and dragged it down and dragged up the east node a bit <br />
To make the hand - duplicate the shape and while holding shift and control scale it down using the select tool <br />
<br />
<strong>Wings</strong> <br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCnFfyo8cII/AAAAAAAAAIg/vLvMLMuzA8U/s1600-h/d2%5B3%5D.png"><img alt="d2" border="0" height="56" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCnFho4Wn1I/AAAAAAAAAIk/f0DeNvJxoPw/d2_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d2" width="240" /></a> <br />
Make a triangle using the pen tool.. arrange the nodes and curves using the path editing tool to make it bit smooth <br />
Position it over the hand we made earlier – make 3..4 duplicates and rotate them as needed <br />
Select the whole thing and Path > Union to combine them <br />
Make 2 duplicates of the wing and position them at the tail and at the opposite side wing. Use Page Down key to send them backward <br />
<br />
<strong>Head</strong> <br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCnFkEcdciI/AAAAAAAAAIo/tgUOOEv0yEQ/s1600-h/d3%5B3%5D.png"><img alt="d3" border="0" height="81" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCnFod3oHUI/AAAAAAAAAIs/xdWlKi72Z-A/d3_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d3" width="240" /></a> <br />
To make the head first draw it using the oval tool <br />
Add 2 big eyes either from a previous work or draw it using the oval tool <br />
For the beak I’ve used 2 triangles made by using the pen tool - you can use the same triangle used earlier for the wing and adjust the nodes and curves as needed <br />
<br />
<strong>Legs</strong> <br />
Just like the beak, legs were driven using the pen tool and adjusted the curves as needed <br />
Here is the final drawing… <br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCnFrD67SsI/AAAAAAAAAIw/gn_m-dkEcPU/s1600-h/d4%5B3%5D.png"><img alt="d4" border="0" height="240" src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCnFsf_rrXI/AAAAAAAAAI0/N5uX58MT3YI/d4_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d4" width="179" /></a> <br />
<br />

<span style="font-family: SimSun; font-size: small;">Difficulty: Easy<br />
Time to complete: 20 minutes<br />
Key elements: Shapes, Path Editing</span> <br />
<b><u><span style="font-family: SimSun; font-size: small;"></span></u></b> <br />
<b><u><span style="font-family: SimSun; font-size: small;">Head shape</span></u></b> <br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCm2lWRVwII/AAAAAAAAAHY/6x-wAZlmv48/s1600-h/d1%5B5%5D.png"><img alt="d1" border="0" height="120" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCm2ncLOVoI/AAAAAAAAAHc/BwlCTtDMCMc/d1_thumb%5B3%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d1" width="240" /></a> <br />
<span style="font-family: SimSun; font-size: small;">Start off by making 3 ovals which are overlapping each other</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: SimSun; font-size: small;">Select them all and Path > Union .. gives the basic shape of bunny face</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: SimSun; font-size: small;">Make another 2 ovals overlapping each other and rotate them slightly outwards</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: SimSun; font-size: small;">Again select Path > Union.. if you want to further refine this shape edit the nodes using the path editing tool</span> <br />
<strong></strong> <br />
<strong>Eyes</strong> <br />
<a href="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCm2qaBicxI/AAAAAAAAAHg/4a4t4iysJw8/s1600-h/d2%5B5%5D.png"><img alt="d2" border="0" height="94" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCm2tPFP6rI/AAAAAAAAAHk/rpT2AElbXfU/d2_thumb%5B3%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d2" width="240" /></a> <br />
<span style="font-family: SimSun; font-size: small;">Make a big eye using the oval tool or get an eye from a previous work</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: SimSun; font-size: small;">Duplicate the eye and arrange them in the head</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: SimSun; font-size: small;">Add a big black nose below the eyes</span> <br />
<br />
<span style="font-family: SimSun; font-size: small;"><strong>Mouth</strong></span> <br />
<a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCm2uux_S_I/AAAAAAAAAHo/lBFP0VlQHiw/s1600-h/d3%5B3%5D.png"><img alt="d3" border="0" height="78" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCm2wN9LViI/AAAAAAAAAHs/5JMbwYqWHDs/d3_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d3" width="240" /></a> <br />
<span style="font-family: SimSun; font-size: small;">To get the mouth.. draw 2 ovals one over the other and select Path > Difference (get the top oval to the front using Page Up key)</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: SimSun; font-size: small;">Duplicate the path and edit the nodes to make the tongue (I’ve deleted the 2 top most nodes and dragged down the 3 nodes at the top)</span> <br />
<br />
<b><span style="font-family: SimSun; font-size: small;">Ears</span></b> <br />
<span style="font-family: SimSun; font-size: small;"><a href="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCm2xJ8xDnI/AAAAAAAAAHw/LIMc9P33dlw/s1600-h/d4%5B3%5D.png"><img alt="d4" border="0" height="112" src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCm2zkona9I/AAAAAAAAAH0/DVcLqIlrYzM/d4_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d4" width="240" /></a> </span><br />
<span style="font-family: SimSun; font-size: small;">Start with drawing an oval.. this time a tall one</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: SimSun; font-size: small;">Duplicate the shape and scale it down for the inner shade</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: SimSun; font-size: small;">Duplicate the main shape and cut off the top part using a rectangle (Path > Difference)</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: SimSun; font-size: small;">Now place the trimmed oval over the other one and arrange nodes of the both shapes (I’ve made only 2 changes – drag up the curve in the cut shape and dragged away the top most node in the vertical oval to the right)</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: SimSun; font-size: small;">Now.. here is the final drawing</span> <br />
<a href="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCm224Sno9I/AAAAAAAAAH4/u0aaIn8WWw4/s1600-h/d5%5B3%5D.png"><img alt="d5" border="0" height="190" src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_oZ438NRGqcs/TCm25OLrDSI/AAAAAAAAAH8/0hKktL3ZLGA/d5_thumb%5B1%5D.png?imgmax=800" style="border-bottom: 0px; border-left: 0px; border-right: 0px; border-top: 0px; display: inline;" title="d5" width="164" /></a> <br />
<span style="font-family: SimSun; font-size: small;">See how you can change the impressions of the bunny by changing the sizes of each object (ears, mouth, eyes etc..)</span> <br />
<span style="font-family: SimSun; font-size: small;">In coloring the face i’ve never used any gradient fills but a simple trick.. can you figure it out?</span>nuraphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06657208971996795890noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2989225315949083434.post-49345535539420513072010-06-22T00:04:00.000-07:002010-08-06T02:41:22.867-07:00Cute Looking Dolphin<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><br />

Difficulty: Easy<br />
Time to complete: 15 minutes<br />
Key elements: Bend Path Effect, Tiled Clones<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<strong>Snake Body</strong><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvh9CY7vVXDAZxkN3TLR6WpiWUv65zkeWdINWunSPHuSH6GthNZrmOZpvrP4Mh4iw-xB3OTIW0Li-d0_Luvk5b37lftsVyL1n69jWXPubpRKFS_tcsMAo5_1uwef2OrFcGbbgemw-rhON7/s1600/d1.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="136" qu="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgvh9CY7vVXDAZxkN3TLR6WpiWUv65zkeWdINWunSPHuSH6GthNZrmOZpvrP4Mh4iw-xB3OTIW0Li-d0_Luvk5b37lftsVyL1n69jWXPubpRKFS_tcsMAo5_1uwef2OrFcGbbgemw-rhON7/s200/d1.png" width="200" /></a></div>1<br />
Using the rectangle tool create a long horizontal box<br />
<br />
2<br />
Select the box and select Path > Path Effect Editor<br />
<br />
Choose Bend for the option and click Add. Bend is now added to the Effect list<br />
<br />
Choose Edit on-canvas button in the Current effect section <br />
(you can see a horizontal axis inside the box with 2 end points)<br />
<br />
The axis is the path to the box.. so like a regular path add some nodes (dbl-click) along the path and use arrow keys or mouse drag to move them (use Make selected node smooth option in the tool option bar to make a smooth bend)<br />
<br />
After getting a nice snake shape close the path effect editor<br />
<br />
3<br />
To give the snake a rattle like end, use the oval tool to draw small ovals<br />
Instead you can use the very handy tool – Make Tiled Clones!<br />
<br />
Make a single oval and apply a radial gradient fill .. then select <em>Edit > Clone > Create Tiled Clones option</em><br />
Use the options below or try as you wish<br />
<br />
Symmetry - Simple Translation<br />
<br />
Shift – Per Row - Shift Y - 10<br />
<br />
Shift – Per Row – Exponent - 0.7<br />
<br />
Scale – Per Row – Scale X - -10<br />
<br />
Scale – Per Row – Exponent - 5<br />
<br />
Rows * Columns - 7*1<br />
<br />
Click on Create.. <br />
<br />
Group all ovals into one and position them at the snake tail<br />
<br />
<br />
<br />
<strong>Snake Head</strong><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxhvSK2WLrsTx-wXcjvaJt-25Pu5niBsiYPLp22tJvdrLM9WW4HNZKdGFOkllPs_HAJ0Ir5jWyC_0FWl3r8bnWqajWvkHwHwexwh7-Bz45HjE_tyVcWX8zWdnASk9YlD6EeEYOXIERoqqV/s1600/d2.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" qu="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhxhvSK2WLrsTx-wXcjvaJt-25Pu5niBsiYPLp22tJvdrLM9WW4HNZKdGFOkllPs_HAJ0Ir5jWyC_0FWl3r8bnWqajWvkHwHwexwh7-Bz45HjE_tyVcWX8zWdnASk9YlD6EeEYOXIERoqqV/s200/d2.png" width="186" /></a></div><br />
1<br />
Using the oval tool draw 2 ovals overlapping each other <br />
<br />
<br />
Select the left most oval and using the path editing tool convert it to a path as earlier<br />
<br />
2<br />
Select the 2 nodes at the top and right and select the option <em>Delete segment between nodes</em> in the tool option bar.. the segment between the 2 nodes are gone so we can use that part as the mouth<br />
<br />
3<br />
Select the right most oval and hit Page Down to send it to back and position it with the first oval<br />
<br />
4<br />
Get the eyes & mouth from the previous work or draw them as earlier<br />
<br />
5<br />
I have used the pen tool to draw a tongue for the snake and smoothened the curves by mouse dragging<br />
<br />
<br />
Thats it for the tutorial part.. use your creativity to add some more effects and share them with other inkscape lovers like menuraphttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06657208971996795890noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2989225315949083434.post-23810605822183308392010-06-10T02:51:00.000-07:002010-08-06T02:39:49.400-07:003D looking Bee<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;"><div style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></div></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; text-align: center;"><br />

</div>1<br />
Select the oval tool and draw 2 ovals for bee head and body. Select both ovals by dragging a box around them using the select tool (topmost tool of the tool box)<br />
<br />
Click the X sign at the start of the bottom color palette of the Inkscape window to remove the fill color<br />
<br />
2<br />
Using the select tool position the bottom oval to overlap the top oval and press ‘Page Down’ key to send it to back<br />
<br />
Select both ovals and get the Align and Distribute dialog by using the tool bar button or by using <br />
Object > Align and Distribute<br />
<br />
Click the button “Center objects horizontally” to align 2 ovals (Set the Relative to list as appropriate)<br />
<br />
3<br />
Using the freehand line tool (pencil) draw an antenna (increase the smoothing slider as necessary at the top of the ruler - tool control bar) and draw a small circle using the oval tool at the tip of it<br />
<br />
Select both the antenna and the circle and click the Group button (in the main toolbar). Duplicate the shape using the toolbar button and click the Flip objects horizontally button (tool control bar)<br />
<br />
Now you have 2 antennas so arrange them, scale as needed and position them over the head<br />
<br />

Draw a white filled oval using the oval tool<br />
<br />
Select the Path editing tool abd click Convert object to path option in the tool option bar<br />
<br />
(the oval is now a path and we can change the shape of it!)<br />
<br />
2<br />
Double click the lower right corner of the circle to add a new node<br />
<br />
Drag that node into the circle and make the node smooth by selecting Make selected node smooth in the options bar<br />
<br />
3<br />
Use the path editing tool to arrange nodes as it looks like a hand (select the node and use arrow keys)<br />
<br />
Add another oval to the wrist of the hand and select both shapes - Path > Union<br />
<br />
4<br />
To draw the arm, select calligraphic tool (choose option Dip pen) and drag to create a shape. <br />
<br />
Align it with the hand and apply colors<br />
<br />
Select both shapes, Group and Make five duplicates! <br />
<br />
<br />
<strong>Mouth</strong><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghOo5gINQewwL-snSgCFN7t6DVP3W87OUrODiEEKyuOaTHwG4OWWeHNWsCB5f9TcglEimVDLIZY8RNbAf4_QHHpKlrq9UZ26RS7g0kz1FR3hn0cEgeWBWhQ0vltISq0wLps_PUMMXD2L0C/s1600/t6.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; cssfloat: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="126" qu="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghOo5gINQewwL-snSgCFN7t6DVP3W87OUrODiEEKyuOaTHwG4OWWeHNWsCB5f9TcglEimVDLIZY8RNbAf4_QHHpKlrq9UZ26RS7g0kz1FR3hn0cEgeWBWhQ0vltISq0wLps_PUMMXD2L0C/s200/t6.png" width="200" /></a></div>1<br />
First make an oval and draw a rectangle on top of that (as tall as the oval)<br />
<br />
Align the rectangle so that the bottom part of the oval is not covered<br />
<br />
2<br />
Select Path > Difference to cutoff the excess area<br />
<br />
3<br />
Scale and align the mouth as appropriate<br />
<br />
<br />
Thats it for the tutorial part. Here you can find few variations of the same drawing.. hope you can achieve them as well.<br />
